Today we headed for a small leisurely walk to dust off the Sunday cobwebs. I've always been intrigued by the name of the loch at Duns Castle estate so we decided to head there.
It was an overcast day and the walk itself was a leisurely 8.5km although this could be shortened if you didn't take the walk to Duns Law. We did this part first, taking in the views across the hills, and then took the signpost for the lost village. We couldn't find it 😂
The tracks are well maintained for the most but can be muddy.
We spotted the swans, a tiny baby frog, a speedy mouse, a few squirrels and I was over the moon when a stoat run out straight across the road literally in front of us, just narrowly missing Mr Rs feet 😍 First time I've encountered one so close and managed a proper look at it👏
It was a lovely circular and the castle is absolutely beautiful. I'd definitely recommend this for a gentler option walk.
And as for me, I discovered I've been pronouncing Duns wrong all these years- according to what I've read it's pronounced "Dunse" Every day's a schoolday. Did you know this?
Was lovely and gentle 😊
Lovely looking Sunday stroll😍
